My Dad and His Siblings

Ella Bendolph | Missouri Pettway | My Dad and His Siblings

This photo is quite famous. That is, it’s used frequently in documentaries. It shows up in places that I’ve seen time and time again. But it was only when my cousin, Greg, posted it on social media and identified who these people were that I was astounded.

My dad, my aunts and uncles are shown as children in 1937 in Gees Bend. It’s so odd seeing your dad as a little boy. It’s right there in black and white. What a gift! We honor you all!
