Ella Bendolph

Ella Bendolph | Missouri Pettway | My Dad and His Siblings

Meet my grandmother. I have limited memories of her from my childhood. I remember visiting Gee’s Bend when I was little. Back then, I remember my dad referring to it as Boykin. I remember sitting with my cousins at a table as my aunts and grandmother prepared breakfast and we all ate it. I wish I could remember more about her those and those few times I visited “up the country.”

I am learning so much about my grandmother. She was a force to be reckoned with. Though she was small; she was fierce. In the neighborhood, the children respected her because if you did something you weren’t supposed to do, expect to be disciplined.

You will also get to learn about so many others as the journey unfolds.
